With his great-granddaughter standing by, André Ferrand, a 93-year-old WWII veteran, was awarded the insignia of Chevalier of the National Order of the Legion of Honour by General Philippe Vial for his voluntary service in September of 1944, in the 1st Artillery Regiment.
