Our Trollhassel tree and Julebukk (Christmas goat.) Oddly enough, although reindeer are a fairly staple source of food and fur in Norway, and herds of reindeer can be a common site in areas up north, they’re not alway seen at the head of the Julenisse’s sleigh. Often, a big ram or goat (the Julebukk, think Yule Buck) does the job. As the story goes, two rams by the name of Tanngrisner and Tanngnjost graduated from pulling Thor’s cart across the sky to pulling the Julenisse’s sleigh for Christians.
