The Istanbul Archaeological Museum also has a building devoted to Turkish tiles and ceramics. Called the “Tile Kiosk,” it has an Arabic inscription above the doorway that reveals the building was constructed in 1471 — 20 years after the Ottoman conquest of Istanbul. It’s the only civic building from this era and was constructed during the reign of Mehmet the Conqueror.
