I borrowed this reconstruction from the BestBookings website to give you a Hippodrome 101 lesson. See the strip in the middle with the obelisks? That’s the Spina. The curved part on the end is the Sphenodone. The white fancy house on one side is the Kathisma (Emperor’s Loge). The whole stadium held 100,000 fans, organized into four teams (the Greens, Blues, Reds, and Whites) according to their social status / political party. Each team backed two charioteers during the races.
