Pictured is the skinniest home in Amsterdam. (It’s the narrow, bright red house.) Its entrance measures only about a yard wide, but it opens up towards the back. The saying goes that “Only the wealthy can live on the inside of a canal’s curve,” because their homes had to have wider fronts to accommodate the bend in the waterway.
