It’s not your imagination. The houses all lean over the street. The looming angle is by deliberate design, and not due to subsidence. By tilting the house forward, owners could use the pulleys along the gable tops to raise furniture and merchandise in through upper level windows without damaging the building’s facade. (Notice the hoisting hooks hanging in front of each attic gable.)
