Probably one of Fra Angelico’s most famous paintings, “The Annunciation” shows why is is considered a transitional artist from Gothic to Renaissance. Rather than his figures floating with no spatial awareness, they’re anchored in their surroundings, which have been rendered in perspective, so that their is a foreground, middle ground, and background.
