The Church of San Giovanni Battista dates back to 1341, but its façade was rebuilt in 1820. San Giovani (St. John the Baptist) is the patron saint of Genoa, the maritime republic that once controlled the region. The white rose window is made from Carrara marble (the Carrera mines are nearby.)
