The boat dock for the Lake Luzern cruises sits in front of the main train station (right). The building on the left is Luzern’s Culture and Conference Center, designed by Jean Nouvel. It’s famed for its perfect acoustics and its controversial history. The architect originally wanted to situate it in the middle of the lake. But when the city council put the kabosh on that idea, he decided to channel the lake right through the center of the building.
