The exterior wall of Ħaġar Qim’s Main Temple contains the largest stone used in Maltese megalithic architecture; it measures 22 feet (7 m) by 10 feet (3 m) and weighs approximately 20 tons. Note the tethering holes at the base of the wall, where animals would be leashed, probably in preparation for ritual sacrifice.
