“Blue Collar” by Oscar Moya, depicts the harsh realities of a Mexican worker in the nearby steel mills, which were vital to construction of the city’s skyscrapers. Many Mexicans came to Chicago to avoid the ravages of the Mexican Revolution (1910 – 1920) or the religious persecution of the Cristero War (1926 – 1929).
