The Finnish landmark sculpture “Three Blacksmiths” is sometimes seen as a socialist statement. While it does celebrate human cooperation and labor, is also venerates “sisu,” a prized Finnish trait that translates as “a grim, gritty, white-knuckle form of courage” — something the Finns have had to rely on in their repeated battles against Russian.
