I’m sure we all know Nokia was a huge Finnish success story in the early 2000s. But did you know that the “father of the SMS” (what we call “texting” in the U.S.) was Finnish? So if you have “texting thumb,” you can thank Matti Makkonen, who first pitched the idea back in 1984, and wrote the specifications for the technology.
