Also on approach to Hagia Sophia, you’ll see a fountain and rows of water spigots installed by the Ottomans for Muslims to practice the rite of ablution — washing your face, hands, and feet before entering into a mosque. Interesting how both Christianity and Islam make use of a washing ceremony. Judaism does, too, in the form of a mikvah bath.
