More than 20,000 traditional Iznik tiles cover the first-floor walls and piers of the Blue Mosque. Tulips are the main subject, arranged in 50 different tulip designs. The balcony tiles seen here are less traditional and feature other kinds of flowers, as well as trees and fruit. I love the fact that they resemble individual little prayer rugs.
