For the men, oak-leafed warbonnets represent the “Oak King,” sometimes called the “Green Man.” He symbolizes rebirth, new growth, and the circle of life in the spring and summer. The saying goes that the Oak King, who brings the light, is strongest at the summer solstice. But he’s eventually defeated by the darkness of the Holly King, who’s strongest at the winter solstice. And this epic battle plays out every year.
